710-24 Kiowa ornament; hide, glass, German silver; d. 5.5 cm; ca. 1880. Such ornaments of Spanish origin, an attractive combination of German silver and colored glass beads, were used to decorate items of dress, fashion accessories such as belts, pouches, and hair pendants, and saddles.
